In the article How Can You Create Fiction When Reality Comes to Call by Carolyn Chute, she writes about her average life, and also how tough it is to write when surroundings things create distractions that prevent you from focusing on the writing process. When it comes to essays or research papers, student usually wait until the last minute to start or finish the assignment. All thanks to social media, the greatest distraction of all times. Nowadays, people can’t live without a piece of technology in their hands. They go on social media millions of times per day. This causes them to forget what’s really important and ignore the future consequences. In addition, family members can be a distraction that would interrupt the process of their writing things such as playing unpleasant music loudly or children running and screaming around can distract one from focusing on writing. Therefore, I have listed six ways to make my process of writing more precise. From which I have read in 6 Ways to Be a Hemingway-Level Productive Badass by Drake Baer. The author describes his 6 ways to be a better writer which I found its useful. First, I write at night when everyone has fell asleep. Second, I would find a peaceful spot with nobody in it, so I wouldn’t get distracted by them. Third, I wear a pair of headphones with a maximum volume with instrumental music so I would not hear anything around me. Fourth, I observe everything that surround me so ideas would jump inside my head. Fifth, I listed everything that could stem from a specific topic, and then I would organize it later. Lastly, I bring my rough draft to the learning commons center, which I could get some help from the tutors.

In Joan Didion’s essay, she describes her process of writing and teaches the readers how to write. She describes “I am not a scholar. I am not in the least an intellectual, which is not to say that when I hear the word intellectual”. Emphasizing that being a writer doesn’t have to be smart or intelligent. She once said “Grammar is a piano I play by ear” writing illustrating that a sentence is similar to playing a piece of music with rhythm, but by playing piano you hear it by ears, not looking at it by eyes. There are many reason why I write. I write because I have to. Sometime, I write to communicate with other people. I write to show people my stories with examples descriptive imagerie that are not as similar as telling verbally. I write because I’m afraid to speak in public, and I’m afraid if I speak out loud the with incorrect pronunciations then people would get confuses or mixed up with something else. I used to write many text message to my friends, and to post a comment to wish them a happy holiday. I write when teachers make me take notes so I would not forget. Writing is my least favorite thing to do because when I write something down, my writing isn’t great compares to others. I like to write but it is not one of my passions and my writing is terrible anyways. I used to read stories written by other people and I noticed that they have a way to show their stories smoothly that linked to many connection, unlike mines. Since I often change the topic of my writing, therefore, it makes others get really confused when they read my work. This poses many questions that I often asked myself whenever I keep repeating this habit such as; why do I write this way? How come my stories don’t have a catch? How can I improve my writing? I know deep inside my heart that I don’t want to be a writer but if that changes in the future, then I might purse it.
